Objectives
To provide new Green Eco-Chaplains with a research and practice-based Course that is grounded in the Western tradition in its approach to nonduality; and to train Green Eco-Chaplains in the twin roles of Mediator between humans and nature, and Educator in community education and online settings, thus bringing training to the community and helping people to embrace a process of re-engagement with the natural world by increasing their literacy in areas of ecology and consciousness.
Approach
The approach is through western philosophy and eco-philosophy, and contemplative practice as followed by Meister Eckhart and Simone Weil, with a deepening of ethics based on ancient Greek Socratic / Platonic philosophy as explored by Iris Murdoch, and engagement with 20th and 21st century Eco-philosophers Arne Naess, Freya Mathews and Stan Rowe.
Delivery
This course is offered via a combination of online group Zoom lectures, and written class materials which are mailed to you. Running for 8 weeks, face-to-face tuition via a weekly Zoom session and private study time together total around 12 hours study per week.
